The Life History of the African Elephant, by Clem Martini, was my first self produced performance, under the banner of Candlelight Stageworks. I had to design the show from the ground up, or bring in designers to help where my own abilities fell short. It was uniquely challenging, but incredibly rewarding to see it all come together, and meet all the goals I'd set myself.
African Elephant tells the story of Glen Beddoes, a shy, secluded elephant keeper, who's world is turned upside down by the appearance of Florence Bond, and her brother Phillip, when Florence smashes her car through Glen's backyard. Their frequent meetings ultimately lead to uncovering shared history, and confrontations with their own childhood traumas, and dealing with the truth of their Creator.
