In late August 2025, my brother and I took on a challenge to create a game for Brackeys Game Jam 2025.2. The theme for the game jam (Risk it for the Biscuit) was announced early Sunday morning, and we had to create a game from the ground up by Saturday night.

BitShaper (my brother) and I created a game called Going Squirrely!, in which the player is a squirrel who wants to steal Grandma's fresh pies. You have to avoid several obstacles on the way to reach the pie, and being caught by any of them would mean losing a life. If you're out of lives, you lose. You can play the game (and view more from BitShaper) for free by clicking the buttons to the left.

We shared the load equally, but I created all sprites for the squirrel, Jimmy, the trees, and more on my own. I also compiled all the sound effects/music for the game, and played a key role in programming the game using GameMaker Studio.

This project represented a lot of firsts for me. My first time designing a game (a small tutorial game with GameMaker notwithstanding), my first time working with pixel art, and my first time working on sound design. Putting development on a tight timeline meant that I was forced to really immerse myself in the work, and I learned a lot in that short week.
BitShaper and I plan to participate again next year, so watch for more from us.
