This one will always hold a special place in my heart, for so many reasons. For one thing, Almost, Maine was my second ever play I'd performed in, and the first I did with serious intentions of pursuing theatre. It was the defining part of my Mentorship 1 fall semester. As well, it was a cast that was very close to my friend, as I performed alongside some of my closest friends, and even had a scene with the woman I was dating. In many ways it was an easy ride, thanks in large part to a competent team, quality director, and welcoming environment for students just starting out in theatre. Although, to be fair, that last point was perhaps the hardest part about it; I was a student who was just starting out in real performing roles. It was great fun, and I loved the work, but it was undeniably a terrifying step to take.
Almost, Maine is a collection of short stories, taking place in the small fictional town of Almost, Maine. It's a cold winter's night, and all through the town relationships, both old and new, are struggling, blossoming, or ending. Each scene takes place in the same ten minute window, each with a little moment of magic as the northern lights appear over the town.
